Social Security Hearing Statistics Keep Improving

Social Security Disability Attorney Randy Zeldin, Esq., recently attended the annual National Organization of Social Security Claims Representative in San Antonio, Texas. During the NOSSCR Conference, Chief Deputy Commissioner Glenn Sklar made a video presentation, during which he presented a number of important statistics. Most significant were the following:

1. 143 new Social Security Judges were hired in 2011, although 97 left office.
2. The productivity of Social Security Judges increased. 77% of Social Security Judges concluded more than 500 cases per year.
3. Processing times and pending numbers continued to improve. The goal for the end of 2013 is 270 days. There has been a 154 day improvement since fiscal year 2008, in processing time before Social Security Judges. By October 2011, the average processing time had dropped to 340 days, the lowest in 8 years.

According to Social Security Disability Attorney Randy Zeldin, Esq., Chief Judge Glenn Sklar is to be applauded in significantly reducing processing time, due in part to the hiring of more Judges and support staff.
